my museum

My museum is full of treasures from the ancient past

  • MY MUSEUM DREAM

Why I wanted to open a museum

When I was seven I went to the Foskor Mine Museum here in Phalaborwa. I loved it because it has lots of rocks and minerals and interesting stuff.

After going there I always dreamed of working in a museum.

  • SHE INSPIRED ME

Gloria, the museum curator

This is Gloria. She is the curator at the Foskor Museum. She is the best! I stayed at the museum until it was closing time. She inspired me to start my own museum.

  • I LOVE MY MUSEUM

Starting my museum

I have collected rocks and gemstones and crystals since I was a little kid. Then I was given boxes and boxes of fossils and rocks and treasures that were just sitting around gathering dust, and I decided to start my own museum.

It took me ages to sort all the displays out. And then my assistant and I had work on all the labels and also the information material.

It was a lot of work and took a long time, but it was really fun.

  • NATURE’S BEAUTY

Nature's art gallery

My museum is also an amazing art gallery! And all the art has been made by nature. Everything is beautiful. That’s why I like being in nature.

  • ADULTS AND KIDS

Museum visitors

My visitors have a great time looking at all the exhibits in the museum. For most people it is the first time they have ever held a fossil. I have a poster of the animals so they can see who each bone belonged to.

Visitors also get to make a beautiful fossil rubbing to take home.

My museum is open by appointment. The entrance fee is R10.
